"In our five weeks at Unity, no two days were the same. Most days combined physical labor (e.g. harvesting pineapple suckers, chopping bamboo, weeding the garden) with cognitive tasks (e.g. designing and building a solar oven, researching topics like the feasibility of rearing ostriches on site, listening to a lecture on the principles of permaculture). I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Unity, and what made it truly exceptional was being with Isaac, who had a genuine interest in our well-being and sought to give us the best experience possible. Isaac loves Ghana and has a deep appreciation for the traditional arts, but he also recognizes that Ghana, like any country, has shortcomings. Isaac's ability to present a complete picture of Ghana, not just the positive aspects, led to many stimulating dinner conversations about topics ranging from the hospitality of Ghanians to the problem of corruption in the society. Isaac is also extremely flexible and easygoing, which is crucial in running a program in a developing country. If an opportunity came up that wasn’t on the itinerary, Isaac would find a way to include it. I would highly recommend Unity to anyone looking for a meaningful and enjoyable time."
